Overview and Purpose:
Cultural Analysis: A marketer makes market-planning decisions based on standard criteriacalled a Marketing Mix; when a product or service is taken to another country, culture issomething that must be added to that criteria. This type of information is not only valuablefor marketers but also for those interested in understanding business customs and otherimportant cultural features of the country when visiting or interacting for other businesspurposes.
The purpose of this lesson is to have the students work in groups to produce a documentcontaining information to see and understand the cultural aspects of a country.
Objectives: At the end of this lesson students will be able to
recognize and use various tools and philosophies that identify, explain and analyzeculture.
interact in groups to conduct research and analyze a country as a team.
use remote interaction to facilitate group work.
identify a basic cultural understanding of a chosen country.
explain the differences between the home culture and the chosen country.
analyze the culture differences as it relates to marketing a specific product.
assemble cultural information to be included in a section of the larger project C

At home: Computer with an Internet connection
In class: Smart Phone, iPad (or other Tablet) or Laptop with Internet access
School WiFi access (if students have WiFi only devices)

This lesson has two parts, an interactive lecture and student group research. This is a groupproject. Students will collaborate remotely to assemble the information for the project.Students will also use their smart phones in class during the instructional lecture to interactand receive instant feedback as to their understanding of the material.
