What is CMAT? CMAT is Common Management Admission Test. It is a general written examination for all MBA in India. CMAT is a national examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). CMAT is an admission test to 4,000 colleges that offer MBA and 500 colleges which run postgraduate diploma in management programs. CMAT will be the most important examination for MBA aspirants after CAT. This test will be an Online Test or Computer Based Test (CBT), just like the GCET/CAT/NMAT has been for a few years. Examination System CMAT is going to be conducted in two sessions a day format Session 1: Test time 9.30 am Reporting time 8:00 am (for identity verification and photo) Session 2: Test time 2.30 am Reporting time 1:00 pm (for identity verification and photo) The following documents are to be carried along at the test venue. a) CMAT Admit Card with recent passport sized photo pasted on it. b) Photo Identification, that should be Original (not photocopied/scanned copy) and valid (not expired) to establish identity of the candidate. The name on your photo identification must match your name as entered in the CMAT application. Acceptable photo identification proof are limited to following Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, UID card or a notarized Affidavit (in English) with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. Photocopies of the original are not acceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification is not presented. c) Notarized copy of 10th Mark sheet or equivalent Admit Card and one photo identification, mentioned above, are mandatory in order to take test.

Examination Pattern: The question paper will cover topics like Quantitative Ability, Reading Comprehension, Verbal & Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, GK & Current affairs. The main topics for Written Examination are explained in brief The CMAT will have the following four sections with multiple choice questions. Expected Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) Expected Time per section: 45 minutes Marking Schem: 4 marks per correct answer, incorrect answers will carry a penalty of 1 mark A. QUANTATIVE ABILITY QA covers elementary mathematics taught in standard 8 to 10. Basically it checks the candidate's numerical ability B. REASONING Reasoning has parts like Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency. It checks the analytical ability of the candidate.
Logical Reasoning
It covers candidate's analytical ability through mathematical and logic based puzzles.
Data Interpretation
It checks the ability to interpret the given data. Candidates are given information in graphs/charts/data tables and they are supposed to answer the questions below it by analyzing the information.

It checks the ability to interpret and reach to a conclusion. The candidates are given two arguments followed by a set of conclusions drawn, candidates need to interpret and decide which conclusion drawn is correct. C. VERBAL ABILITY VA checks the knowledge of English.It covers basic awareness like Vocabulary/ Synonyms/ Antonyms/ Analogies etc. It also covers English Grammar in Trouble Shooting questions.
Reading Comprehension
RC is a part of Verbal Ability only. RC is an important tool that checks skills like DI, DA and also checks the knowledge of English language. This section contains descriptive passage followed by questions based on the same passage. D. GK & CURRENT AFFAIRS This section checks basic knowledge about the business/micro & macro economic environment/market updates etc. GK checks the candidate's knowledge about the history, both near and far.
