? In Their selection of individual candidates I have absolutely no part. I have been involvedin solving the problem of Malaviyaji’s party.

You have rightly writtenexhaustively to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Let him consider thequestion. This matter of selection is absolutely beyond me.

BHAI VALLABHBHAI,
I got your letter. The Kaka affair has become a painful one. Butyou should laugh away the thing. It will all subside by and by. I think there is no malice behind the outcry. I am trying to calm it and hopeto succeed. There is nothing but simple misunderstanding behind thewhole affair. I will not let Kaka go in this manner. I have sent you acopy of the letter

I have written to Mavalankar.Kaka has been laid up with fever from the very next day after hearrived here. The temperature has not come down even once. It wasabove 100° this morning. It rises to 102°. There are no othersymptoms, except cold and a little cough. There is some fear that itmay be typhoid. Write a brief note to him.Jones

examines him.Both the brothers went to Akola yesterday. They were draggedto Khamgaon from there. They were to return today, but now theywill return tomorrow.

has badly deceived us. . . . wassimply enticed. Of course, she too was at fault. Ultimately, we maysay . . . fled from here. He did not even see me before leaving; he hadtold many lies too. Even in Sabarmati he had been given toself-indulgence. The whole affair is deplorable. . . . seems to be asimple innocent girl like any other Malabar girl. It seems somewhatrisky to keep her here. Anyway her husband must be informed, but Ido not wish to take any step without consulting you. You may comeover here if that is necessary. There is no cause for panic. . . . is welllooked after.
