SET OFF ALONG THE ROMANTIC SEINE Day 2. Vernon, Giverny. When you awake, your ship will be cruising through north-west France. On arrival in Vernon, enjoy a trip to Maison et Jardin Claude-Monet (Monets House and Garden) in Giverny. As you explore the gardens of this country estate, youll see the flowers, footbridges and stone structures that inspired many of Claude Monets most famous works. Alternatively, you may have the chance to tour the Palace and Gardens of the Chteau de Bizy (subject to availability). BLD Day 3. Vernon, Rouen. Set in the heart of the Normandy region, Rouen is a place of great history and architecture. Here today, a tour will take you to such places as the Cathdral Notre-Dame, which has the highest spire in France and was the subject of several Monet paintings. Youll also see the Gros Horloge, a 16th-century astronomical clock, as well as the 14th-century courthouse where Joan of Arc was sentenced to death and the Market Square where she was burnt at the stake. After the tour, enjoy time at leisure. With your ship moored overnight in Rouen, you may like to step out BLD after dinner for an evening stroll.
Day 4. Rouen, Pays dAuge. Today youll experience the beauty of the lush Normandy countryside during a trip to the Pays dAuge. Travel over sections of The Cider Road, famed for its many apple orchards where cider and Calvados producers ply their trade. Youll visit traditional towns and villages such as Beuvron-en-Auge, Crvecoeur-en-Auge and Cambremer, and also enjoy a tour of a Calvados distillery, where youll sample cider and Calvados a delicious apple brandy. BLD Day 5. Rouen, Freedom of Choice. Today perhaps travel to Honfleur, set at the Seine estuary, where a tour takes in the cobbled streets, the port area and Saint-Catherines Church, the largest wooden church in France. After free time, return to Rouen. Alternatively, travel a stretch of the Routes des Abbayes (The Norman Abbey Circuit). As you visit the grandiose ruins of Jumiges and discover the beautiful abbey of Saint-Wandrille, your guide will detail the spiritual, intellectual, artistic and political roles these abbeys have played since the 5th century. BLD Day 6. Les Andelys. Todays port of call, Les Andelys, is set right on the Seine River and is thought by many to be one of the most beautiful places in France. Here, a riverside stroll offers lovely views of the Seine Valley, half-timbered houses and the ruins of Chteau Gaillard perched on a cliff above the town. The more active may like to tour the ruins of this historic castle, which was built between 1196 and 1198 by Richard the Lionheart. BLD

CRUISING THE SANE & RHNE RIVERS Day 2. Lyon, Freedom of Choice, Trvoux. This morning presents you with the unique opportunity to experience Lyon, considered to be the gastronomic centre of France. You might like to embark on a guided sightseeing tour of the city or perhaps enjoy a cooking demonstration, showcasing the fine art of preparing French cuisine. After your activity enjoy lunch on board, followed by time at leisure to perhaps step out and explore Lyon. As you dine on board tonight, your ship will cruise up the pretty Sane River to Trvoux. BLD Day 3. Beaujolais Region, Vienne. This morning, a guided tour will take you through the Beaujolais wine region, the Pays dOr or land of the golden stones named for the ochre limestone of its homes and castles. After visiting the medieval hilltop village of Oingt, head to a family-owned and run winery. Here, a member of the family will take you on a tour, explain the history of the winery and shed light on the age-old traditions they employ to produce their wine. Afterwards, enjoy a wine tasting, then return to your ship, which will cruise onto the BLD Rhne River, heading for Vienne.
Day 4. Vienne, Freedom of Choice, Tournon. Set between Burgundy and Beaujolais, Viennes Roman history is highlighted by its wellpreserved ruins. Today, take a mini-train tour to see the Roman Temple of Augustus and the churches of St Andre-Le-Bas and Abbey St Pierre. Or perhaps travel to Chateau de Rousillion, for a tour of the castles courtyard and its rooms. After, see a pottery demonstration then return to your ship. With both groups back on board, cruise to Tournon and Tain LHermitage, towns that face each other across the Rhne. BLD Day 5. Tournon, Freedom of Choice, Viviers. This morning, visit a local vineyard on Hermitage hill for a walk among the vines and a wine tasting. Alternatively, travel into the Ardche Mountains and on to Boucieu-le-Roi, where youll tour a family-run goat farm and sample goats cheese. Later, your ship will set out for Viviers. After dinner enjoy a ghost walk through the largely abandoned town or stay on board for a nougat-making demonstration. BLD CRUISE THROUGH PROVENCE Day 6. Viviers, Grignan, Avignon, Freedom of Choice. Today begins with a trip to Grignan, set upon a hill and surrounded by lavender fields. Here, visit a truffle farm for an insight into this unique industry. Head out with the dogs in search of truffles then enjoy a tasting. Later, cruise to Avignon and enjoy a tour through the narrow streets and elegant squares to the Palace of the Popes. Alternatively, visit the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct, before free time in Uzs. BLD

Alternatively, travel to Rothenburg, a beautiful town on the Romantic Road. Here, enjoy a tour of this medieval town followed by a wander through the German Christmas Museum. After both groups have then rejoined the ship in Wrzburg, youll cruise to the Bavarian town of Kitzingen. This evening venture back in time as a guest at a special Medieval Banquet on board. Set in the heart of the Normandy region and once one of the largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe, Rouen is a place of incredible history and architecture. On disembarking here today, a city tour will take you to some of Rouens
most enthralling sights. Walk among the distinctly French half-timbered houses; see the Cathdral Notre-Dame, which has the highest spire in France; and admire the Gros Horloge, a 16th-century astronomical clock. Youll also see the 14th-century courthouse where Joan of Arc was sentenced to death and the Market Square where she was burnt at the stake. After the tour, enjoy time at leisure. With your ship moored overnight in Rouen, you may like to step out after dinner for an evening stroll. BLD Day 4. Rouen, D-Day Beaches OR Pays dAuge. Today choose from three excursions. The two that trace the events of June 6, 1944 D-Day will take you from Rouen along the Normandy coast to Arromanches, where youll enjoy free time for lunch and a visit to the D-Day Museum (own expense). Afterwards, one excursion visits the US cemetery of Colleville/ Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, which overlooks Omaha Beach, before travelling via the Pointe du Hoc Ranger Monument back to your ship in Rouen. Cruising back towards Paris, todays port of call, Les Andelys, is situated right on the Seine River and is thought by many to be one of the most beautiful places in all of France. The more active may like to tour the ruins of Chteau Gaillard, an historic castle that was built between 1196 and 1198 by Richard the Lionheart, then the Duke of Normandy as well as the King of England, who established the fortress to protect his Duchy. Here, youll learn about the tragic failure of the Allied forces to capture the bridge from the Germans during Operation Market Garden in World War II. After, visit the Airbourne Museum Hartenstein, which documents the course of events that occurred during the battle. Later, re-board your ship and admire the pretty surrounds as you continue through the Netherlands and into Belgium. BLD THE SCHELDT IN BELGIUM Day 4. Antwerp. Belgiums second largest city, Antwerp, is home to marvellous art and architecture as well as the worlds largest diamond industry. This morning, youll enjoy the opportunity to take a guided tour of Antwerp, taking in Het Steen a medieval fortress in the old city centre Brabo Fountain and Grote Markt, with its beautiful city hall. Take in the sweeping views out over the river before returning to your ship. Alternatively, set off for the 2,000 year-old city of Koblenz, located at the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle rivers. On a tour of the city, see the Four Towers and the Church of Our Lady, and hear the story behind the Schngel Fountain and City Hall. On arrival, be met at the airport and transferred to the Douro River, where your luxurious river ship, the MS AmAVidA, awaits. Visit the Chafariz dos Pretos, a strikingly unique fountain decorated in black faces, which sits in the market square. itineraries Itineraries are subject to alteration without notice and intended as a guide only, although every effort will be made to keep them as they are shown in the brochure and final documents. Alterations may occur due to road or weather conditions, strikes, public festivals, local festivals and holidays or other reasons beyond our control. In the event of water level problems on stretches of any river, it may be necessary to operate part of the itinerary by motorcoach. Should conditions render cruise/land touring routes unsafe for navigation, APT (UK) Ltd reserves the right to provide alternative services including, but not limited to, accommodation on the docked ship and/or substitute ground arrangements and/or hotels. Any additional expense incurred by the passenger is not APT (UK) Ltds responsibility. shore Excursions The timing of shore excursions on all river ship departures may differ slightly for each departure. They are intended as a guide only and are subject to change without notice. single/triple accommodation A limited number of single rooms/suites/cabins are available by request at time of booking on Europes Heartland cruises/tours. Single room/suites/cabins are not available on cruises in Russia, Portugal, Vietnam & Cambodia or China. Single supplement must be paid with final payment. Should shared rooms/cabins be necessary, a proportional refund of the single supplement will be provided at the end of the tour. Please note: Single rooms/cabins are usually smaller and often only have one single bed. Please note: Triple cabins are not available. Cruising Cabin/suite/stateroom selection APT (UK) Ltd will make every effort to assign specific cabins, cabin numbers or locations on the ship if requested. However in the event that this is not possible, APT (UK) Ltd reserve the right to make changes to cabin assignment, within the category booked, without prior notice. Health, Visa and passports All passengers must have a valid passport with at least six months validity from the return date. Passengers must consult with the appropriate consulates to ensure any applicable visas for countries visited have been obtained prior to departure. Meeting necessary passport and visa entry requirements and cost is the sole responsibility of the passenger. APT (UK) Ltd is not responsible for delays or missed portions of cruise/tour relating to incorrect travel documents. Please check with your GP prior to travel as you are responsible for all necessary vaccinations and deemed fit to travel prior to departure. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) provide up-to-date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. Please visit their website for more details: www.fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo noise & Vibration While we take reasonable steps to minimise noise and vibrations on our river ships, you acknowledge that some noise and vibrations may be experienced on vessels and that we will not be liable to you for any resulting discomfort. insurance Passengers are recommended to ensure that they arrange comprehensive travel insurance cover. travel documents Please ensure you carefully read your confirmation invoice, tickets and all other documents we send to you as soon as you receive them, and contact us or your travel agent, if any information appears to be incorrect. We regret that we cannot accept any liability if we are not notified of any inaccuracy in any document within 14 days of us sending to you or your agent. While we will do our best to rectify any changes made outside this time, it is your responsibility for any additional costs which may be involved, except in the case of an error made by APT (UK) Ltd and where there is reason for you not contacting us within the specified time. Each passenger is responsible for ensuring that all necessary travel documents (e.g. passports, visas, vaccination certificates etc.) are valid and effective. We strongly recommend that you verify current information with your Travel Agent. luggage limits Each passenger is entitled to take one piece of luggage that does not exceed 160 cm (63 inches), weight limit 20 kg (44 pounds). Extra bags: An extra charge will be imposed to cover porterage handling of any additional luggage.
if You Have a Complaint If a problem occurs during your tour then, in your own best interests, you should tell a representative so that steps can be taken to resolve the matter on the spot, there and then. If you remain dissatisfied, any complaint must be made in writing to us within 28 days. Maximum compensation will only be considered where everything has gone wrong and you have not received any benefit at all from your cruise/ tour. Any disputes arising out of, or in connection with this contract which cannot be amicably settled may be referred to arbitration, under a special scheme arranged by ABTA. Full details will be provided upon request or can be obtained on the ABTA website (www.abta.com). The scheme does not apply for amounts greater than 5,000 per person. Neither does it apply to claims which are in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences. Freedom of Choice inclusionstM & signature Experiences Minimum group numbers may apply on some activities in order for them to operate. In the interest of guest experience, maximum numbers may also apply on some activities and you may be required to select an alternative option should your first choice not be available. In Vienna, when the Spanish Riding School Practise is not scheduled, a tour of the Spanish Riding School followed by a visit to the Imperial Crypt will be offered. In Moscow, if for any reason the Moscow Circus or Folklore Show is not available, another suitable activity will be substituted. data protection Please be assured that we have measures in place to protect the personal booking information held by us. However, in order to make your booking and ensure that your travel arrangements run smoothly, we need to use the information you provide and pass on to the operator or other relevant suppliers.
