Pure LoveEven as I stress over homework and college apps and wish for this semester to just be over already, every 3:35pm bell serves to sadly remind me that my days at Emery High School are dwindling. For a teenager, four years is a long time, and the four yearsspent in high school are the critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. Throughthe community and experiences it creates, Emery has the opportunity to shape itsstudents in a unique and profound way. When I spend four years somewhere, especially four glorious and enjoyable years, Iam compelled to consider my legacy and ask myself the question “What have I done forthe betterment of my community?” It is always my hope that the answer is long-winded,and I believe that in a few short months when I must account to myself the answer will be extended. Iconsider it my duty to give back this community, and as a part of that I would love theopportunity to attend Big Bend.I learned in Boy Scouts to always leave a place in better condition than when youarrived. Big Bend is important to me because of the chance it gives me to spend moretime with Emery’s amazing freshmen. This group is particularly extraordinary to me, because I have had the opportunity to watch them transition into Emery from the timeof their first Shabbaton. Attending that Shabbaton and becoming acquainted with all of
