Description

Test cases are the very foundation of any kind of testing. Without test cases it’s very difficult for the tester to confirm whether the software meets the specified requirements. Normally there will be one test case for each requirement and if there’re sub-requirements then one for each. But the number of test cases developed depends upon the kind of software methodology used. For instance, for RUP the tester have to come up with two test cases for each requirement; one for positive testing and the other for negative testing.

The test cases that help in finding out errors are considered as good ones. Test cases must be prepared based on updated information. Usually testers search through files, wikis, emails, etc for updated information but the best solution is to have a test document management application in place. The testers will also benefit immensely if they have a centralized test case repository and a test case execution application that’ll help to run the test cases and update results within no time. All these applications are available in one test management system, which helps in carrying out testing smoothly.
