for drift studio in madison, Wisconsin, everything is centered around the idea of choice. With its original riff system, the companys furniture is built around the concept of a simple cube that can be used in an infinite number of ways. a smart and functional system with bold colors, patterns and textures, the customer is in control. We really want people to interact with the design, to have a choice in what they want the design to be and what works best in their life, owner and designer Brent starck said. We are all about the idea of customizing. right now, drift studio offers three types of wall-mounted cubes, five freestanding designs and three different table concepts made of baltic birch plywood. With each piece, customers have the option to choose from over 40 unique patterns, including: dahlia, bicycle and map (los angeles and new york city). the cubes range in price from $329-$399, while the free-standing pieces are between $379-$1,199 and the tables range in price from $329-$849. a system of flat panels and metal connectors, all the hardware is simple to break down, move and reassemble into a new configuration or different environment. We really care about where our materials come from and the impact they are making, starck said. it is important to us that everything be made in america. and while drift studio has been creating furniture for just 2.5 years, the company has already built quite a following across the country. starck said drift studio has received the most interest in new york city, los angeles and the northwest (Washington and oregon). as the company continues to evolve, it will begin to create flashcards in the coming months, where customers are able to make wall art panels and even create mosaics. Just one of the ways drift studio furniture is customizable, starck said customers can even design their own patterns and have those put on the furniture. you control the design of every surface, starck said. We want everything to be stable and durable and to look the same 20 years from now. We are building the furniture to last, while designing it to change.
