TODAY’S FOCUS –
Second Sunday inOrdinary Time :

When Jesus called theApostles, he did not hold interviews orfind the smartest and most distinguishedpeople to help him with his mission. Hepicked everyday people, of whom heasked extraordinary things. We mirror theApostles in that we are ordinary peoplebeing asked by God to do both ordinaryand extraordinary things in Christ’s name.

No Cost Way To Help SMC
SMC earns one penny each time youuse the search enginewww.goodsearch.com (this is ayahoo search engine). Enter “St.Mary’s Colgan Schools” as thecharity you want to support (youneed to enter this only once) and weearn funds each time it is used. If 1,000 supporters search the internet just 2 times per day, we will earn$7,300 in one year—this with noneed to buy anything and no need forstudents to sell anything. Check outthe site www.goodsearch.com.If you shop online, check outwww.goodbuy.com—a portion of online sales comes back to theschool.
Please welcome those who haveregistered with our parish within the lastcouple of months.

REFLECTIONS ON LIFE
As we mark the 36th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s legalization of abortion, this question still confrontsour society: Which living members of the human species should be seen ashaving fundamental human rights, such as a right not to be killed? Theanswer that still evades so many is:no human being should be treated aslacking human rights, and we have nobusiness dividing humanity into thosewho are valuable enough to warrantprotection and those who are not.

COLD AND FLU SEASON
This is always a difficult time of theyear. There is no way to eliminatecolds and the flu bug but we can takeprecautions to reduce the spread of them. Therefore, at mass we need tobe conscious of the person next to us.If we have a cold we can bow and saypeace be with you without shakinghands at the exchange of peace. Thecelebrant of the mass may choose notto offer the invitation for the greetingof peace. Please be careful andrespectful of others during the nextfew months.
