Nellie and Samantha are going on a vacation by boat toEurope. On the trip they meet professor Wharton, a famousarchaeologist. The professor is traveling with his nephew Harry andhis pet monkey Plato. Also, he has brought with him on this trip thelegendary blue star sapphire. That night when Samantha attendeddinner she glanced around the table and saw sitting next to her Charlotte the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billingsley then came theAdmiral, the Captain, Mr. Billingsley, Mrs. Billingsley, Professor Wharton, Harry, Plato (the monkey), Mr. Jackson, Nellie and thenfinally Mademoiselle Etienne, their French tutor.Just then Mrs. Billingsley asked” Can you please show us thatmarvelous blue star sapphire?”At first the professor looked uneasy at the thought of it butfinally he gave in and replied with a simple “as you wish.” He told toHarry to go lock the door then he took a locked jewel case out of hispocket and set it on the table. Just as he was about to open it, thetablecloth jerked, the candle on the table went out and the room went
 
 pitch black 
. A few minutes later with the lights back on the Professor and Harry were on the floor franticly looking for the sapphire. Finallythe Professor gave up and said “you can all go to bed now.” That
stormy 
night Samantha and Nellie decided to go to the dining roomto search for the blue star sapphire. While they were searchingSamantha discovered that Harry was the thief. She had almostfinished explaining how he was the thief to Nellie when Harry walkedin.
The alternate ending
By: Madison McMinn“So it was you who stole the blue star sapphire!!!!!!”YelledSamantha“Yes it was me who stole the sapphire” sneered Harry.“But how did you do it?” asked Nellie. Still stunned by the facthe stole from his own uncle.“You see,” replied Harry “while my Uncle was sleeping, I snuckinto his room, unlocked the jewel case and took out the blue star 
 
sapphire. Then, replaced it with blue marbles that matched its exactweight.” “But, of course you know to much now,” declared Harry so,“you must be disposed of.”
(Dah dah dah)
 Just then Harry ran up to Samantha and Nellie, grabbed them tightlyon the arm and dragged them onto the slippery deck. It was raininghard so the deck was slipperier than ever.” “Any last words, shrimps”snarled Harry.“Yes” said Nellie “what are you going to do to us?”“this.” Meanly laughed harry. Then he pushed them off the edgeof the boat. Luckily, there were two open portholes for them to hangonto. So, there they were, clinging on for dear life.“What do you think will happen to us?” inquired Nellie.“I don’t know, Nellie,” answered Samantha “I just don’t know.”Just then the professor came in and rushed over to the portholeand said “what happened? ““Let’s worry about that later,” shouted Samantha over the roar of the thundering waves “right now can you help us up?”A few minutes later in the dinning room the admiral was askingSamantha and Nellie “who did this to you?”
