Alieta Eck, M.D. AAPS President, www.zhcenter.org Health Care Reform Without the Smoke and Mirrors Alieta Eck, M.D. is the current AAPS President. Dr. Eck graduated from the Rutgers College of Pharmacy in NJ and the St. Louis School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. She studied Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ and has been in private practice with her husband, Dr. John Eck, MD in Piscataway, NJ since 1988. She has been involved in health care reform since residency and testified before the Joint Economic Committee of Congress in 2004 about better ways to deliver health care in the United States and also testified last year before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. In 2003, she and her husband founded the Zarephath Health Center, a free clinic for the poor and uninsured that currently cares for 300-400 patients per month utilizing the donated services of volunteer physicians and nurses. Dr. Eck serves on the board of Christian Care Medi-Share, a faith based medical cost sharing Ministry. She is a member of Zarephath Christian Church and she and her husband have five children, one in medical school in NJ. Juliette Madrigal Dersch, M.D. President-Elect President Elect's Message Dr. Madrigal is a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin, Texas A&M Medical School, and was Chief Resident at Oklahoma University School of Medicine. She started her own traditional medical practice in 1992 in Marble Falls, Texas. In addition, Dr. Madrigal is currently the Burnet County Health Authority and Medical Director of the Horseshoe Bay, Spicewood, and Marble Falls Fire Departments. Dr. Madrigal has an active speaking schedule including appearances on the Nick Cavuto show, NBC News, and town hall meetings. She is President-elect of AAPS and will assume office at the conclusion of the annual meeting. Andrew Schlafly, Esq. AAPS General Counsel Legal challenges to ObamaCare and other attacks on patients & physicians. Mr. Schlafly is a member of the bars of New York and New Jersey and serves as the general counsel to AAPS. He advises physicians and frequently files amicus curiae briefs. His noteworthy legal work has recently included the AAPS lawsuit challenging ObamaCare and the AAPS suit against the Texas Medical Board. Mr. Schlafly received his law degree magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor on the Law Review. He clerked for Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg on the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. He has taught at Seton Hall Law School, and speaks and writes widely. He travelled to this meeting directly from the U.S. District Court in Austin, TX where earlier this week the AAPS lawsuit against the Texas Medical Board came to trial. Craig M. Wax, D.O. Host of Your Health Matters EHR Privacy and Security: Mission Impossible Dr. Craig Wax is a family physician and preventionist in private independent practice in Southern NJ. He is on the editorial board of the award winning Medical Economics journal and was featured on the cover in Summer 2009 for his health education efforts through his radio show Your Health Matters broadcast on Rowan Radio 89.7 WGLS FM on Thursdays at 5:30pm, podcast on the website WGLS.ROWAN.EDU and in the iTunes music store. He has published in multiple journals and newspapers and the Gloucester County Times said "He's a doctor of all media." Wayne Iverson, M.D. www.CaAAPS.org Physicians Running for Congress AAPS Board Member, Wayne Iverson, M.D. is a physician in private practice with offices in La Jolla and Poway, California. He practices Internal Medicine and Noninvasive Cardiology. He is the past Chairman of the Graduate Medical Education Committee at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, and continues as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSD Volunteer Faculty, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He previously was appointed as a Solo & Small Group Practice CMA Delegate from San Diego County. After joining AAPS in 2009, Dr. Iverson reenergized the AAPS California State Chapter and in 2010 co-organized the National Doctors Tea Party. This year Dr. Iverson stepped up to run for Congress in Californias 52 District. Marilyn Singleton, M.D. SingletonForCongress.org Doctor Marilyn Singleton was born and raised in San Diego as part of the post-War baby boom, while her father, a flight surgeon based in Tuskeegee, Alabama was at war. Dr. Singleton's political eyes were opened early participating in boycotts against Woolworths for its segregated lunch counters. She graduated from Stanford University and later went on to medical school at University of California at San Francisco and upon completing residency was an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Concerned by the Clinton health care proposals because of the limited input by physicians she decided to learn about law and public policy and was accepted to U.C. Berkeley Law School and graduated in 1995. Now Dr. Singleton is running for Congress because the career politicians seem to have forgotten for whom they work. She wants to represent California District 13 in Washington to ensure that federal policies increase not erode our freedom and independence.

Curtis Caine, M.D. Longest Active AAPS Member Difficult Airway Management; Pain Control by Needle Dr. Caine has been a member of AAPS for 63 years, joining in 1949, 6 years after AAPS was founded. He has been an AAPS member longer than any other current member and has served the organization in most capacities, including Past President. Dr. Ansel Caine, his father, was the first full-time practicing anesthesiologist in the city of New Orleans. Dr. Curtis Caine followed in his father's footsteps, becoming the first anesthesiologist in private practice in Mississippi. Jane Orient, M.D. AAPS Executive Director Physicians Must Lead, Not Wait for Congress to Fix Medicine Dr. Orient is the Executive Director of AAPS and has been in solo practice of general internal medicine since 1981. She received her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed an internal medicine residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital and University of Arizona Affiliated Hospitals. In the early 90's with Dr. Orient as Executive Director, AAPS helped stop Hillary Care by exposing Clinton's secret taskforce meetings. She is a clinical lecturer in medicine at the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine and is the author of Sapiras Art and Science of Bedside Diagnosis, now in its 4th edition. He is a respected leader in Washington DC and frequently relied on as a policy expert. While on Capitol Hill, he has worked for a Governor and represented an academic think tank. Dr Harris graduated cum laude from Yale University with distinction in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry before attending medical school at the University of California, San Diego. In July 2002, he established his own private practice (San Antonio Orthopdic Specialists) in order to maintain the focus on individual patient care. Private practice does not mean that Dr. Harris has taken a back seat in the field of orthopdics. For example, he is one of a very few doctors in San Antonio to provide outpatient partial knee replacement surgery (unicompartmental replacement) and he is the first surgeon in
