TV Scheduling

Pre-echo: Scheduling a programme before a popular programme or an established programme. The hope is that the audience will tune in before the start of the established programme and catch the end of the new programme and hopefully something will interest them and make them want to watch the whole programme next time. Inheritance: Scheduling a new programme after a popular or established programme in the hope that it will inherit some or all of the audience of the previous programme. Hammocking: Scheduling a new programme between two popular/established programmes in the hope that it will benefit from both pre-echo and inheritance. Scheduling is very important and well planned out in order to gain the largest possible audience for programmes. Sometimes a certain show will not air at the time that they are scheduled for. This is because the audience may catch the end of the previous show and become intrigued about it or they may catch a trailer for a new up-rising show on that network and will be interested.
