Haha, yes, but the purchase of gold is not prohibited anymore.

I was curious to see if a book titled "Economics of prohibition" (and supported by Mises Institute) would also cover the prohibition of gold, which has been treated as "narcotic", including a "gold-war" to keep its level and impact low. Unfortunately the book restricts to the standard narcotics (alcohol, heroine, etc.) although the US-government also treats gold as a drug.
