November 13, 2012 Mrs.

Kate Kelly Director, Secretary's Office of Communications Department of the Interior 1849 C Street Northwest Washington, DC 20240 Dear Mrs. Kelly: Were writing on behalf of the at least 25,130 Americans who were outraged upon learning that the Department of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management have sold federally-protected wild horses to a known horse slaughterer as detailed in a ProPublica article, All the Missing Horses: What Happened to the Wild Horses Tom Davis Bought From the Govt, dated September 28, 2012. Today we deliver a letter with the signatures of those 25,130 Americans demanding Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, place an emergency halt to the BLMs wild horse program and conduct a thorough review of these alleged illegal activities. We expect the Secretarys response to this common sense request by November 27, 2012. The secretary owes it to the American public to address not only the concerns expressed in the letter, but also to detail the steps that he, the Department of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management are taking to ensure that Americas wild horses never again fall into the possession of horse slaughterers. Our contact information is below. We look forward to receiving the Secretarys response in the next two weeks. If he fails to meet this deadline, we will take this matter up with Congress. Sincerely, Suzanne Roy, Director American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign sroy@wildhorsepreservation.org Enclosed: - A letter to Secretary Salazar - Signatures and comments from 25,130 outraged Americans - A copy of the ProPublica article - More information about the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign
