The new year brings some changes to the Cameron StationCommunity Association (CSCA) Board of Directors. Sarah
Townes’ position has been lled by Derek “Dak” Hardwick,
former chairperson of the Architectural Review Committee.I would like to thank Sarah for her participation and counselwhile on the board for the past two years. At the board’s
December meeting, the following board positions were lled
by election: President John Sullivan, Vice President BradHolsclaw and Secretary/Treasury Mahl Avila. As a resultof Dak’s election to the board, the ARC has elected MichaelMayes, the previous ARC vice chair, as its chairperson. In addition, our Assistant Manager Leah Pommrehn hasreceived a well-deserved promotion and will be leavingthe Cameron Station Community Association. However, she’s not going far. Leah is the new manager for four of thesix Cameron Station condominium sub-associations. Her
ofce will be on the rst oor of the Cameron Club adjacent
to the Great Room. (
See article on page 6.
)I would also like to congratulate Sonia Agosto again onwinning the 2008 Mark Pillow award. Her efforts in puttingtogether a truly outstanding 10-Year Anniversary celebrationfor Cameron Stationwere duly recognizedat the annualmeeting. (
See front page
.) In addition,Sonia and her troops
did a magnicent job
providing holidaydecorations for thecommunity’s gazebo, which greatly addedto the holiday spirit. The community
enters 2009 in sound nancial shape with all recurring
service contracts signed and operational. By now you
may have noticed that the nal paving in the west end of
Cameron Station, as well as the parking striping, has beencompleted. Greenvest continues to make repairs to theareas of Cameron Station that have not bonded out ( PhasesI, III-VII). Greenvest has proposed to the City of Alexandriathat Phase VI be next for bond out. Associated with thedeveloper bond out, the board has awarded a contractfor review of the developer/builder-provided trees. Thiscontract will help the association understand the health ofthe trees and any proposed maintenance, as well as ensure
that the trees specied were installed.
While December was a mild month weather-wise, pleaseremember that the cleaning of sidewalks adjacent to aresidential unit is the responsibility of the occupant of thatunit. Your assistance in this regard will help provide forease of access to the neighborhood sidewalks and allow forsafer walking in the winter months. As always, let me say that this community runs onvolunteers. (
See page 7
.) Most of the committees arelooking for members, so please go to their meetings, onenight a month, and participate. In addition, let me extendan invitation for you to attend the board meetings, thefourth Tuesday of every month at 7pm. The open time forresidents is usually from 7:10 to 7:25pm.It is with regret that I report the closing of Stems. In thesetight economic times, our local merchants depend heavilyon us to support them. Part of the charm and enjoymentof this community is the availability and diversity of ourlocally owned merchants. They need your support tohelp weather these tough times and I ask you to considershopping local!
