My Music Reflections

12-13/9/12
I think this lesson was a good way to teach us what we can do with music without instruments. I never knew what we could accomplish without instruments and just ourselves. I liked this lesson. I really enjoyed listening to what other people created. I also observed that there needed to be a lot of creativity because we had a very limited time to create a short but hard skit. I thought it was hard to think of a whole skit it would have been easier if we had instrument because we sort of know what different noises instruments can make but, with people we can not tell what other people can do so it is hard to get ideas of what to do. I thought that this lesson really made us think and I enjoyed.

19-20/9/12
I thought that this lesson was like the last we all learned good ways to make music out of ourselves. Maybe it would have been better if we could have had more time to do it in class because if you went off topic for a minute you had lost way too much time. I really thought that this was good and it took a lot of focus.

26-27/9/12
I think that Audacity is a great way to make cool music with little sounds. I think that Audacity is a great program but is annoying sometimes with saving but other than that it is super program. One downside I have for Audacity this is sort of the point of Audacity but it takes no skill most people are trying to do a scary noise but they add so much effects it sounds completely computer programmed it has no verbal sound to. The haunted place just sounds like scary computer effects and ear piercing screams.

2-3/10/12
I think that these lessons were good because we all learned what noises other people made and how they sounded. Presenting was awkward because you did not know what other people will expect from you presentation. I think grading is still a bit hard though because we are not really comfortable with the new system of grading. I think our grades were also a little inaccurate were because I feel that we did not have the time to think about what had just happened before we know it someone elses is playing i felt a bit rushed. It would have been nice if the person could have maybe played it again so we had two times to hear and comprehend what had happened and what was good and what was bad.

10-11/10/12
I think that this lesson was good because, we learned what sounds connect with certain instruments. This helps us understand and tell other people oh yeah that is a viola etc. It really can be useful and I am glad we are doing it because, music will be playing and my friend will know what the instrument is and I am clueless so I really want to be the person saying what instrument it is.

17-18/10/12
This week was practically the same as last week but we learned different instruments. We also had a mini quiz which was a recap of what we had done before and that definitely freshened our memories.

1-2/11/12
This week was a very good week because, we got to get that summative assesment out of the way which was a relief. I was happy with my score. I had gotten 14/16. I had done that by making sure that I knew the difference between the oboe and the flute. Many people were confused but I went with my gut and Remember we were discussing how in a way the oboe is higher pitch than flute and has a more woody and happy and bright sound. I was also confused though because, you said that if we try and put the pitch and the family as an answer we would get full marks or halfs. I did that and I knew what the instrument was I just forgot the name. The african drumming was fun and was a relief too. I would love to do more.

7-8/11/12
This week we started our project on Medieval music. I was assigned the Lute. I had trouble finding information on the Lute but I still succeeded in finding some information. I was also an editor and people were not listening to what me and Emily were trying to enforce to make our life easier. Everybody was just making documents and sharing or giving me a sheet of paper. I wish that everybody could just listen and make everybody's life easier. I like this project but think it is a lot of pressure on James to finish the whole article. He also did volunteer so I assume that he is fine with it. This week was fun and I am glad of what I have accomplished.
