Extreme Build 2008was a success!
By Joshua Speight,Associate Coordinator for MissionsThanks to our partnership with McCreary CountyCommunity Housing Development Corporation(McCHDO) as well as our excellent volunteerlead team, 150 volunteers were able to combineresources to provide an affordable home for Bessie Watson and her fam-ily in McCreary County. Despite a slow start pre-build week and otherobstacles the week of the build, we achieved our goal of building a homeand furthering our relationship with the people of McCreary County. Of-fering over 8,000 hours of service, we all experienced unique momentswhile hammering and sweating in the July heat. Some of the best moments of the week included: watching Bessie andher children hammer the first nail into their new walls, meeting newfriends from Texas, working alongside many of Bessie’s family memberswho came to support her, and singing “Amazing Grace” as a benedictionto our work at the Saturday Dedication. Our ties as Kentucky Baptist Fel-lowship were strengthened between one another and between KBF andMcCreary County. We hope to build upon the efforts of Extreme Build in2009 as we continue to partner with McCreary County.
