of words.
Morphology faces the two segmentalunits:
the morpheme and the word
the morpheme is identified as a part of theword
train-ed [-d]; publish-ed [-t]; meditat-ed [-id]
What is a word?
the word is an extremely complex andmany-sided phenomenon
the minimal potential sentence,
the elementary component of thesentence,
the articulate sound-symbol, thegrammatically arranged combination of sound with meaning,
the uninterrupted string of morphemes
