Purpose of the Policy & Procedure Guide
 The purpose of the policy and procedures guide is to provide the usersof the library media center a guide to the operation of the schoollibrary media program. The guide will be updated as changes are madein the library media center.

Mission Statement
 The mission of the Putnam County Elementary School (PCES) librarymedia center is to assist the learning community in becoming lifelonglearners by being a leading resource for information, providing accessto informational, educational, and cultural materials in a variety offormats and technologies, and to stimulate an interest in and promotethe love of reading.
 - To provide services to students, faculty, and staff that will enhancethe instructional program within the school.- To provide instructional materials that will stimulate growth infactual knowledge, literary appreciation, ethical standards, andaesthetic and moral values.- To provide materials representative of many religious, ethnic, andcultural groups and their contributions to our mutual heritage.- To promote information literacy.
 Library Media Center Hours of Operation
 - The media center is open 7:30 am
3:30 pm, Monday through Fridayfor faculty & staff.- The media center is open from 7:35 am
2:55 pm, Monday throughFriday for students.
Library Media Center Conduct Policy
PCES Library Media Center conduct policy is in compliance withPCES school rules with follows
:- Follow established school rules and policies- Respect adult authority- Demonstrate respect for self, other, and the property of others- Use quiet voices when in the media center- Take responsibility for damaged/lost materials
Circulation PoliciesTeacher Circulation
 - Faculty and staff may check out print media center material for aperiod of one month- Faculty and staff may check out audiovisual material for a period oftwo weeks
Student Circulation
 - Students must have a media center issued pass to exchange books.Media passes will be limited to two per classroom in order to maintainan environment that is conducive to the Media Center Mission. Smallgroups of two to three students may use the media center forresearch with media center issued research passes.
All students musthave a signed Acceptable Use form on file in order to use themedia center for Internet research.
- Students may check out two books- Books are checked out for a ten day time period- Books may be renewed one time- If a student has an overdue book, he/she may not check out anotherbook until that book is returned- Reference material or periodicals may not be checked out bystudents- Lost or damaged books must be paid for before another book may bechecked out
Nonschool Owned Material
 All nonschool owned material that is used at PCES must be submittedfor approval to the Media Advisory Committee.
Overdue Material
 Overdue notices will be sent either via E-mail or by the WednesdayFolder on a weekly basis.
