Look Out Chicago; Northern Suburbs Are Beaming With Cultural Diversity
Skokie, Illinois (June 11, 2012) - Thomas Sapoczy, head chef is all set to launch his restaurant,Avenue de Avignon tonight at the Skokie Shopping Center in downtown Skokie.A man of multiple talents, Sapoczy is known to excel in both spheres of hospitalitymanagement and gastronomic art. He graduated from culinary school Le Cordon Bleu in Paris andhas worked his way up as head chef at several world-class restaurants such as Sixteen at TrumpTowers and Zest at InterContinental Chicago. At Avignon Sapoczy will be assisted by deputy headchef Petra Mell and pastry chef Gardenia Roberts. They are also planning to get a sommelier.
Sapoczy’s menu focuses on French
-bistro-style cooking while providing a contemporary twist to the traditional ingredients with Italian, Mexican and Indian spices such as Herbs and GaramMasala. His specialty includes Pot-au-feu, a pot of boiling lamb and Coq au vin, chicken with wine. The menu takes advantage of the ethnic diversity found in the city and will surely attract peoplefrom all cultures. The menu in itself will be adjusted seasonally to provide variety of options. This isa great distinction from many of the other French restaurants in the city.A passing by couple, Mr. and Mrs. Watkins exclaimed,
“We are all very excited about the grand
opening tonight. Mr. Sapoczy has received a lot of media coverage in the past. Even President
Barrack Obama has tried his delightful cooking. I’m really forward t
o what he has in store for us
Avignon is a restaurant with conscience. For every $200 earned from the restaurant, Sapoczywill provide a free meal to a homeless every month. The owner, an avid supporter for homelesspeople, has decided to donate 100% of
tonight’s proceeds towards
Chicago Coalition for homeless,a non-profit organization that
advocates for public policies that can curb and can ultimately end
