Welcome to our ninth edition o Kimberley Chronicle! We hope everyone has survived the rainsand is nally ready or some summer. Tere has been so much going on in Kimberleys very recenthistory that we did not have any room or old stories this time. First o, we would like to congratu-late the Selkirk Grad Class o 2012 or their achievements - Good Job! Also deserving o congratu-lations are all o the racers and volunteers in this year’s Round Te Mountain Race, we have some o the race results printed on page two. We’d also like to thank the Chamber o Commerce or puttingon a spectacular Canada Day Celebration.
Happy Canada Day Kimberley!
Te Good Ol’ Goats rocked out the Platzl on Canada Day. Check them out these Mount Baker students on Soundcloud if youmissed their concert!
Canada Day Celebrations werea great success this year in Kim-berley. Despite the lack o ducksfoating down Mark Creek, untimes were had between the Civ-ic Centre and the Platzl. Flags, tattoos, pins and red and whiteclothing were on ull display asresidents and visitors both cel-ebrated Canada’s 145
th
Birthday. Anyone lucky enough to catchthe concert at the Platzl wastreated to the wide variety o tal-ent that exists in the East Koo-tenays. Te Good Ol’ Goats hadchildren dancing and adults toestapping. Natassja (aka MamaMasheengun) had everyone ina trance with her belly dancingand the Kimberley Community Band had everyone eeling very patriotic playing the classics.Hopeully Mark Creek will set-tle down next year so the duckscan swim once again, and maybe when the fume situation is xedkayaks could accompany themdown the creek.
