The Questionnaire...

This is the questionnaire that as a group we came up with to hand out to people of our target audience to fill in. From this, we hoped to gather useful information that we can consider when coming up with our final idea for our music video.

Question 1: Male or Female

We included this question as we can clearly see the number of people we have representing the data obtained. We managed to get 18 responses and of these, we've used 6, as they were the ones that gave us a close enough representation of our target audience.

Question 2: What Is Your Favourite Genre of Music?

Upon reading the results from our gathered data, we came to find that our chosen genre, Electronica, had not been picked as a favourite genre. So, we decided to get all of those who responded 'Pop', as we felt that this was the closest representation we had. This reduced the number of questionnaires we looked at from 18 to 6.

Question 3: Do You Watch Music Videos?

We then asked whether or not those asked watch music videos. The results were then put into a graph (Seen Right). From this, we can see that 80% of Females watch music videos and 10% do not. As for the Males, 100% watch music videos, however as there was only one response from the male gender, these results are not accurate of the entire population.

Question 5: In Your Opinion, What Is The Worst Thing To Put In A Music Video?
For this, we took ALL of the responses into account, however, some were disregarded due to either not having a response or having an irrelevant answer. From those who had given creative and insightful responses, we found that the most common themes that people asked did not want to see was:

Nudity Violence Conflict

This is good information to find out as some of our original pitches has mild forms of conflict and violence within them, so we can focus more carefully on other pitches that do not have these elements within them.

Question 6: Where Do You Watch Music Videos?

Of the 6 responses that we focussed in particular detail, 100% of both Males and Females watch music videos on YouTube. Although this is highly unrepresentative of the entire population of males and females, we can be sure that if we was doing this in the modern day Music Video Industry, we would definitely be putting out our artist's music video on YouTube to gain publicity.

Question 7:What Is The Most Important Aspect Of A Music Video?

Firstly, 10 out of the 18 responses did this question properly, 6 of these were Female and 4 were Male. There were two clear outcomes from the list. 30% of the responses said that a 'Clear Narrative' was the most important factor, whilst 70% answered with 'Seeing the artist'. From these results, we have come to the conclusion that the artist NEEDS to be seen throughout the majority of our video, and there HAS to be a clear narrative relating to the lyrics of the soundtrack. Helpfully, we got a much better idea of what the narrative needs to do when the same question was asked in our Focus Group.

Question 8: The Licket Scale

Here are the results from the Licket Scale that we did, to find out the most favoured and the least favoured from the Electronica artists that were listed.

Question 9: Do You Like These Images, Yes? No?

From the images that we placed at the bottom of our questionnaire, we have found that the artist's image that was most favoured by those asked was Lady Gaga's. As mentioned in Richard Dyer's Star Theory, we have concluded that our artist needs a strong image like Lady Gaga, but it CANNOT be as extreme. Dyer's Star Theory explains that the artist needs to have their own USP's, and that will be what makes them successful.
