 A record ve midshipmen were selected for Rhodes,Marshall and Mitchell postgraduate scholarships.Midshipmen 1st Class Katie Whitcombe and ChristianHeller were awarded Rhodes Scholarships, whichprovide two or three years of study at the University of Oxford in England.Midshipmen 1st Class Ronald Allen and KatelynDavidson were awarded Marshall Scholarships, whichprovide two years of postgraduate study at a U.K.university.Midshipman 1st Class Jonathan Poole received theMitchell Scholarship, which provides one year of studyat a university in Ireland or Northern Ireland.
The commodore of the Cruising Club of Americapresented two trophies to the academy’s OffshoreSailing Team Nov. 13 for their performance during theNewport to Bermuda Race this summer.
Noah Copeland ran for 110 yards and two touchdowns,leading Navy to a 21-10 victory over Texas State Nov.17. Copeland scored on runs of 15 and 16 yards as themidshipmen won for the sixth time in seven games.
Two Naval Academy midshipmen attended thePresidential Fellows Leadership Conference hostedby the Center for the Study of the Presidency andCongress Nov. 1-3 in Arlington, Va.
