Ephesians 4:1-6
1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Todays Gospel

Luke 13: 10-17

10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity. 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day. 15 The Lord then answered him and said, Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? 16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound think of it for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath? 17 And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.

I Was Hungry And You Gave Food (Mt. 25:35) Reflection on the upcoming Soup Kitchen.
By Fr. Vlad This coming Saturday we are starting a Soup Kitchen in our parish hall aimed at serving our immediate community. It may be a novelty for many in our parish, so naturally there may be some that wonder whats the purpose?. In the sheep and goats parable found in the chapter 25th, Jesus aligns himself with the less fortunate of his time. Not only does he align himself, he identifies himself with hungry, thirsty, sick, prisoners. Some in our church, beginning with me and often encouraged by me, think and say that this ministry will make our church grow or it will make us more noticeable. Looking back to the words of Jesus, we know that our thinking is wrong. The only reason for the Soup Kitchen should be that through it we will be able to serve Christ himself in yet another way. Everything else is secondary. So today I would like to call on anyone in our church who can volunteer their time in helping us to run the Soup Kitchen. We your help starting this weekend. Please come on Fridays from 6-PM to 9:00PM and on Saturdays from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. Give us whatever time you can, even if you can only come and help for one hour.
