National Drug Recognition Expert Enforcement Crackdown Statistics

National Crackdown Period: Labor Day (August 21 - September 7, 2010) Reporting States: Alaska, Arkansas, California*, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Wyoming (31 of the 46 states that participate in the IACP Drug Evaluation and Classification Program ).

The following DEC states did not report data: Arizona, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia and Wisconsin (14 states plus the District of Columbia). DUII arrests: 9,271 DUI-Drugs Arrests: 529 (CA did not report) DRE Drug Influence Evaluations: 896 Number of Sobriety Checkpoints: 493 Number of Saturations Patrols: 430 Number of Special Holiday Events: 217 Drug Arrests: 2,933 Other significant activities: A DRE in Pennsylvania seized a half kilo of cocaine and $20,000 cash. A DRE in South Carolina arrested 11 impaired drivers during this period, six of whom were DUI-Drugs. Another S.C. DRE arrested 10 impaired drivers, four of whom were drugged drivers. South Dakotas 30 DREs again worked the Sturgis Motorcyle Rally just prior to the Labor Day Crackdown period and accounted for 223 DUI arrests and 146 drug arrests.
