**This assumes your VMWare virtual network settings have VMnet1 set on the 192.168.240.0 subnet and VMnet8 on the 192.168.179.0 subnet Change all NICs in VMWare to Host Only If your laptop can handle it, increase the memory allocated to about 1,536MB Start Virtual Machine Log into the Celerra command-line Type: netconfig -d eth1 Set IP to 192.168.240.128 and accept other defaults Type: netconfig -d eth0 Set IP to 192.168.240.200 and accept other defaults Type: service network restart Open Internet Explorer and go to http://192.168.240.128 Login to Celerra Manager Go to Data Movers on the left Go to the properties of data mover server_2 - Enable Unicode
Click the IP address of the Celerra Go to Licenses and activate each license individually Go to Network on the left Create a new interface with the following options: - Address: 192.168.240.250 - Netmask: 255.255.255.0 - MTU: 1500
Go to File Systems on the left Create a new File System with the following options: - File System Name: TestFS - Storage Capacity: 500
Go to CIFS on the left Go to Configuration Start CIFS Service: - CIFS Service Started
Go to CIFS Servers Create a new CIFS Server with the following options: - Server Type: Standalone - NetBIOS Name: TestServer - Workgroup: WORKGROUP - Set Local Admin password and dont forget it - Interface: 192.168.240.250
Go to CIFS Shares Create a new CIFS Share with the following options: - CIFS Share Name: TestShare - CIFS Servers: TestServer
Go to your desktop and hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE Click Change Password and use the following options: - Username: administrator - Log on to: TestServer - Old Password: (your password you set in the CIFS server step) - New Password: (set to whatever you want) Go to Start/Run and run cmd.exe Type net use \\TestServer /user:administrator Enter the password when prompted
Go to Start/Run and run \\TestServer You are now connected to your virtual server
Checkpoints Go to Checkpoints on the left Create a new Checkpoint with the following options: - Checkpoint name: TestCheckpoint
Go to your desktop and right-click My Network Places Choose Map Network Drive and use the following options: - Drive: Z: - Folder: \\TestServer\TestShare
Go to My Computer Right-click the Z drive and choose Properties Go to Previous Versions and then View to see your checkpoint
