 November 2012For immediate releaseMaking marketing innovative at Leeds Met
International entrepreneur John Peters is to give a guest lecture at LeedsMetropolitan University about the evolution of marketing as both a disciplineand a practice.The hour-
long session, entitled „Marketing and Innovation: The benefit tobusiness‟ is open to the public and will take place from 6pm on Thursday 29November at the University‟s Rose Bowl.
 John is CEO at GSE Research
 –
a Leeds-based publisher and adviser insustainability and related areas. He holds visiting posts at a number of universities, and is a respected entrepreneur, executive and consultant in theUK and overseas.
He commented: “
When times are difficult, innovation is more important thanever. You always need to be able to balance continuity and change, and you
need both in any organisation. I‟m very pleased to be able to present at one of the country‟s leading business schools; o
ne with a reputation for a practical
approach to teaching and research.”
 The lecture will address how marketing has evolved through two distinctphases before the current stage of social media enabled, peer-to-peer marketing, which is considered less predictable and manageable thanprevious phases. It will also draw on the work of Peter Drucker, one of the20th Century's most respected management thinkers. John will look at some
 
of Drucker's illustrations and apply them practically to show how they can beused to a modern marketing benefit.
Paul Houghton, a Principle Lecturer in Leeds Metropolitan‟s Faculty of Business and Law, said: “It is a great pleasure for Leeds Met to have John
Peters visit to give this important lecture. Being innovative and creative has
probably never been as important as it is in today‟s society and marketing is a
tool that is used in virtually every walk of life in all ranges of professions andbusinesses. The session will be both inspiring and informative
