Thank you for your interest in using iTunes-U. This quick-start guide should give you the basicinformation you need to get started adding content to iTtunes. If you find that you have furtherquestions, please contact University Relations at 701-777-6298.There are three steps to getting content onto Itunes-U:1) Apply for an account2) Create Your content3) Upload to iTunes-U

1. Get an Account

You can apply for an iTunes-U Account by going to:http://www2.und.nodak.edu/our/itunes/apply.htmliTunes-U is available for all UND faculty, departments, and student organizations.

2. Create Your Content

There are two main types of content on ITunes - Audio and Video.Audio is much easier to create, and smaller files sizes, so let's start with that.1. Record the AudioIf you have a Mac Laptop, there is a built in microphone that you record fromJust go to GarageBand, hit record, and you're off. Save the file as *.mp3(for example, Lecture1.mp3)If you have a PC, you'll need some sort of microphone to record on, which you canusually buy at Wal-Mart or Target for under twenty dollars, though if you get a higherend microphone, you'll get a better sounding recording. But to start, a cheap onewill do. For software, you can use the built in sound recorder, or use a program suchGoldwave (http://www.goldwave.com) or Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)Save the file as *.mp3(for example, Lecture1.mp3)

3. Upload to Itunes-U

To upload to Itunes-U, an audio file needs to be in mp3 or AAC ( *.mp3 or *.m4a)and a video needs to be MPEG-4 (*.mp4, *.m4a, or *.mov)After you apply for an account on ITunes-U, you will receive an email for University Relationswith your username, password, access webpage, and the category under which you will belisted.For example:U - john_johnsonP - temp_pass1234W - http://www2.und.nodak.edu/our/itunes/admin/jjohnson.phpC - AcademicsPlease go to the Access Webpage listed (under W) and you'll see a page that looks like this:Under "Accessing Your Site" (on the left hand column) - click on the green "here"At this point, ITunes should start on your computer. If you don't have Itunes on your computer, pleasego to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ for a free download.
