Erickson English 11 15 October 2012 Battle for the Kingdom

In the kingdom of the sky, everything was prosperous; the people lived under a kind, generous god of light. The god of light was fair and just; everyone was happy. But one day, they were visited by a new and powerful god who came from a kingdom that had been destroyed by his own power in a burst of anger. This angry god would shout so much and so loudly; that his breath rocked the heavens, and nothing could be understood over the booming of his voice. When he arrived, the people of the sky were very careful not to anger him; but he terrorized them, and the peoples happiness was gone. This kingdom will be mine! he boomed, If it will not be mine, then it will suffer the same fate my last kingdom did! The god of light feared for the safety of his people, and decided he would fight for his kingdom. But the people could not be present during the battle, so they were sent to a new kingdom on land. The light god and the god of wind were evenly matched, and they each asked for reinforcements: the god of light asked the god of clouds to cloak him, so that the wind god could not anticipate his bursts of light. The wind god asked the god of water to rain down upon the god of light, and put out his brightness. The four gods clashed: light, wind, rain, and clouds all together in one terrible battle. The effects of their clashing were so powerful that they cracked holes in the sky and the

The light gods attacks could be seen in bursts of light that would shoot out from the clouds, and the wind and the rain came down in a heavy torrent as they seeped into the kingdom of land. The people knew that their god was fighting for them, but they also knew that there would be no winner. The stories of the battle were told over and over again; and it came to have many names: storm, tempest, hurricane or cyclone. No matter the name, it would rage on until the gods got tired of the stalemate. However, every once in a while, the gods will resume their fighting in an attempt to finally have a victor to claim the kingdom of the sky.
