Emma was sure she had her heart set on one thing and one thing only. To go to aschool of witchcraft and wizardry. She had heard of the Law of Attraction. Meaningyou attract the things you want most, eventually you will get closer and closer togetting it. Well her mind set was very clear. She knew how to meditate so that partshouldn’t be too hard. She had special things to help her think about it more thanoften. She was very hopeful, and just a little bit of doubt on her mind. But therewasn’t enough doubt to stop her from wanting this. The reason she was so set on being a Witch was, she felt it in her bones. She knewthat the regular world just wasn’t for her. She would give anything to find out whyshe felt this. She also had a friend, Azeleah, or Leah for short, who had the samemindset. They were both in this together. They had been friends for a couple yearsand they both seemed very compatible as Best friends. For instance, they never gotin big fights to where they had to separate for a couple days. They told each othereverything, and never lied to each other. They were always honest when it came tobad hair days or make up. They were closer than any humans had ever been, thatwas why they were best friends.Emma was 11 years old and was turning 12 in three months. She knew from one of her books that witches and wizards would start school when they were 11. Sheknew it was a slim chance that she would get what she wanted, but it was a chance, still.Leah was the same age as Emma, except for the fact that her birthday was inAugust, a month from now. So her chance was slimmer. But she thought along thelines with Emma. It was still a chance and that was all the push she needed to go forit. She was just as good as meditating as Emma and they were better when theywere together.Emma and Leah were just making party plans when Emma’s mom called themdown to dinner.“Emma, Leah, Time for dinner!” Emma’s mom called from the kitchen.“ Coming mom!” Emma called back. They got up from her bed and went to go eat. They sat down and started talking more about Leah’s party plans, though it wasstill a month away.“ Planning so early?” Leah’s mom asked. She was always at Emma’s whenever Leahwas.“ Well we want it to make sure everything is perfect…” Leah sighed patiently“ And sometimes it takes a while for things to come into order” Emma finished. Thegirls looked at each other and grinned.

“Well if that’s what you want to be doing for the next month. Make sure yourbrothers know when the party is going to be” Shae, Leah’s mom, said taking a biteof the stew Emma’s mom made.“ Well we haven’t figured out the exact date yet but we are working on it.” Emmasighed. They finished their dinner and went to change into their pajamas. Then after Shaeleft they got out their meditating gear. Incense, mats, candles, soft music, and theirspecial rocks.“ Ok. Are you ready?” Emma asked“ Yep… ok.” Leah said quietly. Though Emma’s mom wasn’t against meditating, it just wasn’t worth the struggle to explain what they were up to.“ Together we are smarter, together we are faster, together we are powerful. We callin the five elements. Water, earth, fire, air, spirit. We ask you to guide us in thisspecial meditation. We ask of you to carry our prayer through the earth to bind us.” They said in unison. This was their final meditation before Leah’s birthday. Theyeach made up the binding words. They wrote it down on an old fashioned burntpiece of paper. And lit it on fire, then they doused it by pouring a mixture of theirblood and spring moon water on it. They literally put their heads together and concentrated on the meditation. Theywere both still and emotionless, but that was far from what was going on insidetheir heads. Something had changed. They had never actually called the elementsbefore but they were sure it worked. Because they could feel the warmth of the fire, hear water running and feel it around them. They could feel the grass of the earth, hear the wind blow, and feel the goddess’ spirit around them. They felt peaceful. They sat there motionless for more than 10 minutes till they finally opened theireyes at the same time.“ Did you?...” Emma couldn’t finish“ Uh huh” Leah replied anyway.“ What did you see?” Emma asked“ Ok. Well after we said the binding, I felt the elements all around me. Then therewas a voice. It said “ We have heard your prayer “. Then after that I saw pictures of a castle. It was a dark colored castle. A lake surrounded it. Then I went inside, and Imean, it felt like I was actually there. And when I went inside there were manycorridors and towers. It was amazing!” Leah closed her eyes to savor the feelingthat she still had left.“ Wait… I didn’t see anything or hear anything. I did feel the elements but that was

it. I did feel peaceful, but I didn’t see or hear anything else” Emma said looking verydisappointed. After that Leah and Emma didn’t walk about it. Leah’s birthday came and went justlike that. Then it was just two days till Emma’s birthday. Leah had decided, after herbirthday, that she just imagined the other part of their meditation. That madeEmma sadder and happier at the same time.“ What kind of Cake do you want? Emma? Emma!” her mom snapped her fingers toget Emma’s attention.“ Wh-What?” Emma looked at her mother stupidly. “ did you say something?” sheasked. She had been watching the strange looking man that was watching her. Hewas dressed really weird and didn’t even act embarrassed when she looked back athim.“ I asked you what kind of Cake you wanted?” her mother said.“ Oh. Chocolate’s fine” Emma said turning her back on the strange looking man.“ How late did you stay up last night?” Her mom asked accusingly“ I went to bed early. I was just thinking about things” Emma rolled her eyes whenher mom couldn’t see.“ Oh. Well they must be very luring thoughts for you to not even notice when Ipractically holler your name” Her mom said as she picked out a chocolate cake.“ Yeah.. I guess so” Emma said looking at her shoes. She did that whenever she lied. They finished their shopping and headed back home so they could get everythingready. The next day they were busy cooking and cleaning. By the time it was timefor bed Emma and Leah were so beat they fell right asleep. At exactly midnight there was a strange tapping on Emma’s window. It reallyannoyed Leah and she was tempted to tell it to just shut up. Though she knew itwouldn’t do any good. So she got up and went to the window. When she peaked outthe blinds she gasped. There was a large
Owl
standing right in the seal of herwindow.“ What are you doing Leah?” Emma asked confusedly“ There is an owl outside your window. And its… oh my god! Emma!!! It has twoletters with it!” Leah almost shouted.“SHH! I don’t want my mom to wake up! And repeat that again, I didn’t hear… Oh”she was so shocked at what she saw she couldn’t think of anything to say. But then, her mind acted upon its own accord. She walked straight over to the window and let
