TOURISM SECTOR PERFORMANCEHIGHLIGHTS
Note to Editors:This quarterly report provides a summary of key statistics on tourism receipts, international visitor arrivals and gazetted hotels. The analysis in this report is based on data from a variety of sources, includingDisembarkation/Embarkation cards, the Overseas Visitors Survey (OVS) and the monthly hotel returns from gazetted hotels. Data derived from the OVS are subject to sampling error. Tourism Receipts (TR) for Quarter Two (Q2) 2012 were estimated at S$5.5 billion,registering a 4% year-on-year growth. All TR components, except Sightseeing &Entertainment saw year-on-year growth.
1. Tourism Receipts
International Visitor Arrivals (IVA) for Q2 2012 stood at close to 3.5 million,representing an 8% year-on-year growth.
2. International Visitor Arrivals
Gazetted hotel room revenue for Q2 2012 came in at an estimated S$0.7 billion,representing a 4% year-on-year growth. Robust performance in both Average RoomRate (ARR) and Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) resulted in a 7% growth in Revenue PerAvailable Room (RevPAR).

Tourism Receipts (TR) for Quarter Two (Q2) 2012 were estimated at S$5.5 billion, registering a 4% year-on-yeargrowth. All TR components, except Sightseeing & Entertainment, saw year-on-year growth.

Excluding Sightseeing & Entertainment expenditure, Indonesia (S$848 million), P R China (S$545 million), India(S$308 million), Malaysia (S$253 million) and Au
stralia (S$247 million) were Singapore’s top five TR generating
markets for Q2 2012.Malaysia, Indonesia, P R China and Thailand saw the highest percentage change compared to the same quarter lastyear. TR growth from Malaysia (+29%) was driven by an increase in business traffic and higher shopping expenditure.TR from Thailand (+21%) was boosted by increased spend on Accommodation, Shopping and Food & Beverage,despite visitor arrivals remaining flat.The Philippines, Australia and Vietnam registered a decline in TR for Q2 2012. TR from the Philippines (-12%) andAustralia (-8%) saw a shift in visitor profile (increased VFR traffic from the Philippines and stopover traffic fromAustralia) and was hampered by lower ground expenditure.
