Important vocabulary:
Slide
- an individual screen in a slide show
Powerpoint (___.ppt)
- the file you save that includes all the partsof your presentation
Slide Design
– a theme that appears on one orall slides.
Slide Layout
– the arrangement of yourslide’s text, graphics, or charts
Animations
- a special effect used during your slideshow
Outline Window
- while you arecreating your slideshow in thenormal view, this is the columnedwindow to the left that shows theinformation of all of your slides. The list window does not show upon the actual slideshowpresentation.
Slide Window
– while you are creating your slideshow in thenormal view, this is usually the main window that allows you to workon your current slide. The slide window shows you what your
 
slideshow presentation will look like.

 Tutorial #2: The Toolbars
To find a toolbar:
1.Click on the VIEW menu at the top of the screen.2.Highlight TOOLBARS.3.Choose the toolbar you would like to use and click on it. The five main toolbars you will be using for PowerPoint are theSTANDARD, FORMATTING, DRAWING, COMMON TASK, andANIMATION EFFECTS toolbars. The STANDARD toolbar is for common tasks such as saving, printing,checking spelling, and inserting charts and tables. The FORMATTING toolbar is used to format text. You can use thesebuttons to change the font type, size, and color, make text bold oritalic, indent and align text, and insert bullets. The DRAWING toolbar is for drawing shapes, adding lines andcurves, and inserting text boxes and WordArt. The COMMON TASK toolbar can be used to create anew slide, change the layout of a slide, or apply adesign. It is not a docked toolbar, but can be if youchoose to add it to the sidebar. The ANIMATION EFFECTS toolbar provides shortcuts to animationeffects for your textboxes, slides, and graphics.
