How to Use oDesk.

Team Application

oDesk team application is free to oDesk contractors and clients.

Currently, contractors are earning $300 million per year through Desk.

oDesk team application is necessary for hourly contracts.

Clients see their remote contractor activities.

Contractors get system-proven work record for guaranteed payment.

Odesk team application enables visibility, connectivity, and collaboration.

It works on recent versions of Windows and Mac.

Go to oDesk Help Center. Search the topic.

Mozilla Firefox use is recommended for downloading.

To run, left click twice on oDesk.Setup exe.

Click here to launch.

Type in User Name and Password.

oDesk team application icon now shows on Desktop.

Your team(s) will show.

Click Start on selected team for automatic tracking.

Tracking uploads time, memos, snapshots, activity record to Work Diary.

Type description Memo of work being done.

Click Start to begin; Stop when done or taking a break.

You are reminded if you forget to re-start.

oDesk team application takes screen snapshots randomly

but always once every 10-

minute billing segment.

A black screen shot of an active segment can happen.

Usually, its when lock or screensaver is on or

preference is ON to stop time tracker taking screen shots.

Disable preference or

adjust Screen Saver/locking activation time.

Time segments reflect in the Work Diary.

Work Diary is a timecard with boxes in hourly rows.

To access Work Diary, go to Jobs, then Contract.

Adjust to applicable time zone.

Click on Preferences.

Check all to show more detailed information.

Color coding show different types of times tracked.

Green is auto-tracked time; may qualify for guaranteed payment.

Yellow is manual time; billable but NOT guaranteed payment.

Orange is over the weekly limit; NOT billable.

Manual time may be added. Check with client first.

Manual time does not qualify for guaranteed payment.

To add manual time, click My Jobs, then choose contract.

Click on Work Diary.

Click Add manual time.

From:/To: time zones should be same as current diary view.

Select Assigned task or

type a description Memo. Save.

Work Diary LOCKS every 12 Noon Mondays, UTC

when the Timelog updates to show billable hours.

This basis for billing clients cannot be edited at that time.

Editing/deleting can be done in Work Diary BEFORE then.

Click to check box of snapshot(s) to be edited or deleted.

Click Delete.

Confirmation is requested: Delete webcam photos only or ALL information?

Screensnap is a useful feature of oDesk team application.

Click on Tools, then hover over Screensnap.

Click Snap whole desktop.

Options after snapping are to draw, upload or discard.

Choosing upload opens a box with short URL for sharing.

Copy ShortURL to share. Set password if information is private.

Screensnap feature has annotation tools for easy online collaboration.

Chat is another feature. On Team Room, select member.

Right click on the name. Then on Start Conversation.

Chat conversations are saved for future access; cannot be deleted.

For private conversations, click Go Off Record.

Memo feature lets contractor advise clients what he/she is working on.

Select from previous memo or select client-assigned task code.

Set a reminder to pop up; helps when changing tasks.

oDesk team application has a Camera feature which is optional.

To disable. Go to Tools, then Preferences.

Expand Time Tracking, then select Snapshots.

Uncheck Send Camera Snapshot.

To delete camera shots taken, go to Work Diary.

Select screensnap with camera shot.

Confirmation is requested: Delete webcam photos only.

Camera feature is NOT the same as Snapshot.

Camera shows your face. Snapshot shows your screen.

Meter feature keeps track of time logged and money earned.

To access, click View on Team Room. Select Meter.

Hovering over the client icon shows real-time weekly hours worked.

Cache feature continues logging time even when connection is interrupted.

Non-connected caching limit is two hours, indicated by Status Icon.

Status shows when cache is full while connection is unavailable.

Icon also shows other Status.

Error Log feature shows application at the time of problem.

This helps obtain quicker diagnosis and solution to the problem.

On Team Room, select Help, then submit support ticket.

Type relevant information in comment area.

Make sure there is a check mark on Include logs.

Send with Submit button.

oDesk support responds promptly via chat or submitted ticket.

Fixed Price Contracts are possible on oDesk, although not guaranteed.

Fixed contract payments can be monitored/are updated regularly.

Contractors choose withdrawal method through Paypal, Payoneer, or local bank.

oDesk allows you select clients with high ratings from contractors.

oDesk allows you choose clients with verified payment methods.

Client information is available and transparent.

Clients can similarly streamline their search for contractors.

Contractor information is available and transparent, including client ratings.

oDesk has over 300 free tests.

You can make results private; retake the test after 30 days.

You can show good results in your profile.

oDesk team application really does simplify working at oDesk.
