SENATE BILL 5799
 _____________________________________________
State of Washington61st Legislature2009 Regular SessionBy
Senators Fraser, Swecker, Fairley, and Murray1AN ACT Relating to the state capitol campus special height2district; adding a new section to chapter 35A.63 RCW; and creating a3new section.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:5NEW SECTION.
Sec. 1.
The legislature finds that the broad public6vista northward from the historic capitol campus, and the public view7of the state capitol from many points to the north of it, constitute a8vista of statewide and national historic significance.9The vista is an integral part of the design of the state capitol10campus. The state's founders sited the capitol campus in its location11principally to take advantage of this expansive vista. The vista is12representative of much of the physical characteristics of very large13areas of the state; it provides a visual and physical connection14between the capitol and Puget Sound; it inspires; and it promotes an15appreciation of the scenic grandeur and rich natural resources of our16state.17The city of Olympia was so named because of the spectacular vista18of the Olympic mountains from many locations in the city, including the19downtown, Budd Inlet, and capitol campus areas.p. 1SB 5799
