The mission of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce is to facilitate business relationships and opportunities, to advocate on behalf of our members to governmental bodies and the general public, to promote the best interests of our membership in a fiscally sound and professional manner, and to promote ethical business practices and contribute to the betterment of the community.
Happy Holidays! Here we are, the last month of the year I simply can’t believe it.As I’ve put together this newsletter entry, I’m reminded that this will be the lastone I write as the Chairman of the Lisle Area Chamber. I was humbled by the op- portunity to serve the Chamber in this capacity for 2012, and as my term of ser-vice comes to an end I can’t help but thank all of the people in the chamber whohave made this such a wonderful experience. We are truly blessed to live and work in a business community full of peoplewho are willing to help you at every turn. It is a tight knit group with a truly entre- preneurial spirit and I’ve formed excellent relationships with people I may have otherwise never met, as a direct result of my involvement with the Lisle Area Chamber.Tom, Jill, and Amy conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism and their importance tothe organization’s success cannot be overstated. At the same time, they each bring an enthusiasmand positivity to everything that they do. Can you remember the last time you went to a Chamber event and left without cracking a smile? While all of us are looking to capitalize on opportunitiesthat will promote and grow our business, it is refreshing to be able to do so in a fun and lightheart-ed venue. Their personal touch allows that to continue, and I thank them for it.
All of my fellow board members are magnificently talented people and I only hope that I’ve beenable to leave them with a fraction of the impact they’ve had on me. Thanks to you all for your sup- port, and for the privilege of collaborating on a regular basis.
Be excited for what’s to come. The chamber continues to evolve to meet the challenges of a dy-namic business environment. We have the right people in the right places to continue bringingquality programming, networking, and events to our members. As Paula Gleason moves into myroll at the end of the month, I’m very confident in the chamber’s continued success and look for-ward to supporting her as she has supported me this past year.
Good luck to you all on a strong close to the year, and all the best in 2013 and beyond!

 Remembering Marshall  Field’s”
was a book written by historian Leslie Goddard, the speaker at the LisleChamber’s General Member-ship Luncheon at PizzeriaBombola’s in Lisle. She brought back a nostalgic look at the great customer service and branding that Marshall Field’s created.Memories of the lunches under the Christmas Tree atthe Walnut Room, festive window decorations FrangoMints, and the historic clock on State and Wabash. A portion of proceeds of Leslie’s sales of her autographed book was donated to the Chambers scholarship fund.
