EMILY FAIRBANK OUGD301 BRIEF 3: GLUTTON CLUB PAGE 1: LOGO

THE BREIF I was commissioned to design the logo and promotion for the new pop up restaurant opening on the 30th November 2012 in Shrewsbury.

BACKGROUD The Glutton Club was originally started by Charles Darwin in his university years. He would have weekly dinner parties in different dorms where him and his friends would try a variety of exotic foods. George Cavendish is a young but proffesionally trained chef, and took this concept, created his own menu and set up his own restaurant in Shrewsbury.

The client asked me to represent that traditional nature of this restaurant and use warm colours, prefereably that reflect those in Darwins study. I chose to use a burgandy red and cream colour; reflecting warmth, tradition and inkeeping the the colours in Darwins study.

I used the same stock for the buisness cards and the letterhead, a matte, cream stock, 150gsm. I used the lighter red in the graident logo, for the text on letterhead and the background of the business card

I designed a double sided A5 flyer promoting the opening night with the menu on the back. The client printed this out on a glossy stock which was given out to people in the streets of Shrewsbury. I used the front of the flyer to create an A1 poster which was placed in the restuarant window.

The client chose the logo with the gradient in the background to be blown up and used as the shop header.

Using the menus I was given to put on the back of the flyer, I designed menu that represented the high quality of food that the Glutton Club is producing. I chose to keep the colours simple and rely on the stock and print processes to represent high class nature of the restarurant.

I used thick card stock for the cover, with gold foiling on the front and back. The front of the menu shows the logo, and the back has a small logo and the address of the restuarant. I used two stocks for the inside menu, a darker, slightly heavier stock for the white menu, and a lighter, whiter stock for the black, to create a contrast.
