 Volunteer Co-ordinator Internship (4 months)
The Bulldog Trust have developed an internship programme to help individualspassionate about working in a museum or gallery environment, gain key skills andexperience. The internship is based at Two Temple Place, the headquarters of theBulldog Trust and temporary exhibition venue.
Role Description
This internship will give the
successful applicant
 valuable work experience and aninsight into how volunteer services are run in a small but busy exhibition space.The intern will report to the volunteer and gallery duty managers and assist with themanagement of the volunteer invigilators as well as support the staff with the day-to-day running of the gallery. During exhibitions at Two Temple Place, up to 12 volunteer gallery invigilators are on duty at all times during the hours the building isopen to the public. We are a small team of staff and an ability to anticipate whatneeds doing and willingness to help is crucial.This is a full-time, 5 day a week internship ending in April 2013. The intern will be willing and enthusiastic to support and help deliver a successful show and for the 11 week duration of the exhibition will be expected to work weekends until 5:30 pm with Mondays and Tuesdays off. At Two Temple Place we pride ourselves on the warm welcome we give visitors so itis vital that candidates enjoy interacting with members of the public and are able toremain calm and keep smiling at all times!
The Bulldog Trust is a charitable trust that has given financial and advisory assistance to charities for over 25 years. The trust is housed withinTwo TemplePlace,a magnificent late-Victorian mansion on the Embankment. In 2011 theBulldog Trust started a project to host annual exhibitions at Two Temple Place and inOctober of that year opened its doors for the first time with the exhibition
William Morris: Story, Memory, Myth.
The exhibition was attended by 51,032 visitors and
35 groups of 5-11 year olds (over 1000 school children) came to the specially devisededucation workshops provided by The Whole Story. After the enormous success of this exhibition and accompanying education outreachproject, the trust is hosting its second exhibition,
 Amongst Heroes: the artist inworking Cornwall

April 2013.The exhibition will present the most significant grouping of Cornish artworks to be displayed outside Cornwall in recent decades, and will include the work of many celebrated though often under-appreciated artists. It will reposition the work of Newlyn and St Ives artists in a new and original context and create afascinating insight into the imagery in Cornish art.It will examine a keen and longstanding artistic interest in the working landscapeand the characteristic industrial activity taking place along Cornish coastlines,offering a new insight into the art that focuses on the geography of place as well asthe history and narrative of the paintings displayed.Supporting this showcase will be a series of events and education workshops that
compliment the exhibition theme.
Report to and support the volunteer and gallery duty managers with day-t0-day management of the volunteer team and any additional tasks involved in running thegallery ·
Supporting the volunteer manager with the training of the volunteer team·
Help with the preparation of the volunteer information packs·
 Act as the first point of contact for volunteers during gallery opening hours
 Assist the volunteer and gallery duty managers to deliver the briefing at the start of shifts·
Co-ordinate and maintain the volunteer rota·
Co-ordinating the breaks and position changes for volunteers·
Basic administrative duties including answering the telephone and e-mail enquiriesto the gallery 
Skills and experience
 An enthusiastic, hardworking and friendly person who is happy to roll their sleevesup and apply 
a ‘can do’ attitude
 Ability to take own initiative and work on their own with minimal supervision·
Excellent communication skills·
Enthusiasm for working with volunteers and the public·
 Adaptable and willing to help
