QUOTE OF INTEREST"Those engaged in the creation of beauty and the artful revelation of thetruth--which sometimes is not beautifulbut necessary--are the most valuableamong us. They give us a sense of ourfiner selves, of the best we can possiblybe. Without this, what are power, material wealth, and physicalpleasures? They are not enough. Webecome destructive, to ourselves andothers, when we try to fill in what ismissing with more of the same.Yet, we treat our artists badly, trivializing what they do, or, worse, ignoring it."Gail Kelley, February 18, 2001, BostonGlobe at p. 14 NH.REVIEWSNewScientist- "The Granger PapersProject - This site is dedicated to thework of fossil-hunters Walter and Anna

Granger. Whilst the subject matter isvery specialist, it is also well presentedand easy to read. The lack of complexgraphics make navigation quick andeasy, so that although there is,perhaps, little here for the generalreader, a browse through the pages isnot cumbersome and can berewarding. Its appeal to sciencehistorians and those with a generalinterest in palaeontology is moreobvious, and the links, though few, areuseful. The photographs in particularare delightful and well worth a look.(11 December 2000) MDM"

The Granger Papers Project is an independent research, editing and writing project featuringthe personal expedition diaries and letters of American paleontologist and explorer WalterGranger (1872-1941) and his wife Anna (1874-1952). In addition to paleontology, the study of evolution, and Granger's pioneering fieldwork in the Faiyum of Egypt in 1907, in China and Mongolia from 1921 to 1930 (Central AsiaticExpeditions), and in the American West throughout his life, research topics include: Americanforeign policy; western civilian, missionary, and military interests in Asia; the First and Second
