Card # 6
Projectile Motion:
Any body given an initial velocity moves freely in space under the influence of gravity iscalled a Projectile. The path followed by a Projectile is called its trajectory. Trajectory of aProjectile is a Parabola.
Time of flight:
Time taken by the body to achieve highest point and then returningto the ground is called the time of flight. Since the body returns to the ground, thedistance traveled along Y-axis will be zero.
 Horizontal range = R:
The maximum distance traveled by the body on ground iscalled its horizontal range.
Maximum height = H:For a Projectile projected horizontally from a height h with velocityu:
(1) Horizontal distance traveled
(2) Vertical distance traveled =(3) Equation of trajectory(4) Velocity of projectile at any instant t = v =This velocity makes an angle
with the horizontal direction then=(5) Time taken by the projectile to ground =(6) Horizontal range = R = u(7) Velocity of projectile on striking the ground =
