THE CODES OF PRACTICE
These Codes have been developed in accordance with the requirementsof section 123 of the
Broadcasting Services Act 1992
and have beenregistered by the Australian Communications and Media Authority(
) after endorsement by commercial radio broadcasters andconsultation with the listening public. The Codes aim to ensure thatcommercial radio broadcasters have regard to prevailing communitystandards in broadcast material, while protecting their right to responsiblefreedom of speech.
Review of the Codes
It is intended that the Codes will be formally reviewed after they havebeen in effect for three (3) years. If, within that time, it is shown that theCodes require substantive change, the public will be given adequateopportunity to comment on the changes that may be proposed.
