Baked chicken best to use bone-in (not boneless) chicken breasts, legs (drumsticks) or a whole chicken, cut up pre-heat

at oven to 400 prepare baking pan: for several pieces of chicken, use a 9 x 13 pan (like a brownie pan): line with foil, put ~1/2 cube butter or margarine in pan. Place pan in oven-butter will melt while you are preparing the chicken. Chicken preparation (use thawed-not frozen-chicken): Dredge (coat) chicken pieces with flour. Place on plate and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Once butter has melted in pan, remove from oven. Place chicken pieces in pan, skin-side down. Return to oven and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, turn chicken over, and return to oven. Bake for 40 more minutes.

(Note: this is a good recipe to serve with baked potatoes. They can bake (1 hour at 400) along with the chicken.)
