Dr B
An excellent overall article that is comprehensive. Only a couple of minor drawbacks:
1) Some of the data can be interpreted/updated due to the results form the Tampa bay desalination plant, completed in 2008, and the ongoing research and approved expansion of the Carlsbad plant based on encouraging results. Such information would provide a better context in which to interpret the real world application of their calculations and expressed opinions.
2) There is an apparent contradiction between the first and second bullet points under "Recommendations". Governmental intervention or not? Perhaps a bit more on the delineation of the roles, otherwise the reader is left to make their own conclusions from the recommendations in the article.
Nice and timely article in an important area....too bad we humans tend to "prepare for a crisis only after we are already in one"
