Our city consists of building and roads, but our communities consist of people andideas, and it is these people and ideas that Halifax’s Economic Strategy,
StrategiesFor Success
, is all about.The Strategy outlines goals and actions for all three levels of government and their partner organizations and we rely on them to implement smart economic and socialpolicies that will foster growth. But the responsiblity cannot just lie in their hands, itis also the responsibilty of us, the people of Halifax, to ensure that we are doing allthat we can to make Halifax an even greater city.The Chamber developed the Economic Scorecard Report to help maintain the mo-mentum of the Strategy, to monitor progress towards its goals, and to ensure thatthe Strategy did not become another document gathering dust on a shelf.Now in its third year we have been working to perfect the Scorecard process andmake adjustments for the future. This year rather than simply presenting the data,we are telling the Scorecard Story. This story tells the tale of our our city, of thepeople who live here,and what lies ahead in the future.We are the people that our Economic Strategy refers to - it is our story, and if weare to see future success and growth for our community, our city we need to ensurethat we keep the Strategy top of mind, celebrate the successes, be aware of thechallenges, and be inspired bythose who are working everyday to implement it.Valerie Payn Kim WestPresident & CEO Chair of the BoardHalifax Chamber of Commerce Halifax Chamber of Commerce
