Unit 3 Project: Constitution Handbook

Points Possible: 100 DUE DATE: January 3, 2013 A group of middle school students from the Dominican Republic, Cape Verde, Haiti, and Vietnam are going to be visiting Boston as part of an exchange program. They will have a few assignments to complete while they are here, one being to write a report on the structure of the United States government. It would be helpful to them to have one source for finding all of the information neatly outlined for them. To help these students, design a handbook that explains the United States Constitution what it is, its parts, and the information about the government that it explains. Use your notebook, the textbook and the Internet to research information about the Constitution before beginning your handbook! Your handbook can be neatly handwritten or typed in Microsoft Word or in PowerPoint. Your handbook must include the following criteria, IN YOUR OWN WORDS: A title section (5 points): o Your name (2 points) o The title of your brochureMake it catchy! (3 points) An outline section that explains the three sections of the Constitutionthe Preamble, Articles, and Amendments (12 points) o Name of each section (1 point per section) o The purpose of each section (3 points per section) 1 section for each branch of government (30 points) o Who is in this branch at the local, state, and federal level?
