irst and foremost, thank youfor picking up and reading acopy of Mode. Created forwomen, by women, we're happywith the outcome and we hope youare too. As a female lifestyle maga-zine, we want to communicate withevery single one of our readers; wewant to give you more than justa fashion or health magazine; wewant to give you something per-sonal. We have a brilliant team, andthere is each and every one of us inthe pages of this magazine.During the initial stages of pro-ducing Mode, friends and familyvariations asked me on thesesuestions, 'Do we really need justanother women’s magazine?' and'Is it going to be any different?' Myanswer? Yes. Yes, we need anotherwomen’s magazine, and yes it willbe different and that is the way inwhich Mode is produced. Mode is amagazine to speak directly to thosereading it.We didn't have a team the size ofan army, or resources fit for a num-ber one leading publication. Whatwe did have is a passionate andhard working team of real people, writing about real things, for realreaders. It seems that everywhere we turn, somebody is saying that maga-zines are no longer relevant, andwe would be lying if we said thatdoesn't sting us a little! And that'sbecause we believe that if any kindof publication has the power tomake a tiny positive effect on itsreaders, in any way, shape or form,we want to be a part of it. And hey, more fashion, health and datingadvice never went amiss. In this, our first issue of Mode, youwill find time relevant features andopinion pieces such as 'Fur is Mur-der’, which tackles the everlastingbattle between the fashion savvyand the animal lovers. You'll alsofind an article of moral exploration('Is fashion feminist?') in which wetry to get to the bottom of thecontroversial issue of fashion andstyle versus new feminism. But aswell as that, you can read aboutabusive and unhealthy relationships, and how we suggest avoiding them. And in less austere vibes, we've puttogether some fun and lively piecesthat we hope you enjoy, such asrelationship and dating revelation,as well as health and beauty tips. Here at Mode, we believe in fash-ion, and good fashion at that. Westrongly believe that it promotesstyle, beauty, confidence and char-acter building. We look up to in-spirational figures of the past thatpractically invented the currentstyle lexicon, which is why we'veincluded 'Then and Now', a celebra-tion of all iconic fashionista's andwhat they've done to shape fashionas we know it today.I'd like to thank all of our contribu-tors - each and every person thatturned Mode from an illusive projectinto a successful, intimate and blos-soming new magazine. Our report-ers and sub editors have truly putthemselves into this venture, andwe believe and sincerely hope thatit has paid off.Special thanks must go to our sub-editor, Charlie Ray, for his unwaver-ing and steadfast approach to Mode. The only male member of the team, wecan only imagine the unnatural amountof willingness to endure, patience andteeth-gritting that would have beenexercised. So, from the rest of Mode, thank you Charlie! Finally, to our readers You are the foun-dations of this magazine and with youin mind, we've created Mode. Our aimwas to connect, listen and deliver, andwe hope you can share our success. Ihope you enjoy reading Mode as muchas we enjoyed writing, designingand producing it.Sabrin JemalEditor
