Why does my wine have a screw cap??
As many of you have noticed more and more wines have adoptedthe screw cap or synthetic cork to replace the traditional cork in abottle of wine. If you have ever experienced this most unpleasantodor of wet newspaper or cardboard you have encountered a ‘corked’ wine. Also known as TCA taint, it is the interaction of anatural compound found in cork trees, mold, and chlorine used tobleach corks. It is now estimated that one in every fifteen bottles isnow affected by cork taint to some degree!! Screw Cap Anyone?
