1)
Establish relations with all Chamber of Commerce. Make an email group listand fax group list. Find out the deadline & costs for letter inserts for thevarious monthly editions. Allocate the funds to pay for these inserts.
2)
Contact all social clubs see if a speaking engagement can be arranged.
3)
 Your first hand out should be a bullet single sheet with just the brief details of the program. Don’t give them pages of info. Give them the bullets of yourmessage. It’s the “hook” to get them interested.
4)
Use the news releases and coordinate your business outreach. Whenemployers hear it and read about it on several occasions it’ll help yourefforts.
5)
Go door to door with the info letter when appropriate.6)Follow up with all leads!
7)
Use the customized researched facts for various employers. This lets themknow you did a little homework.8)Take coffee mug or another useful item to those employers who participate.
9)
Do not different programs together…keep separate!
10)
Print out all employers (inactive/closed…all in database) and mail them anice letter on the program Don’t make it wordy, just the main facts of theprogram.
11)
Follow up with a thank you letter.
Media Plan:
1)
Establish relationships with all media outlets. Make an email group list.
2)
Use prescribed news releases that have been approved by your chain of command. Set out a rough “release” plan.
3)
Call radio stations and inquire if an interview on their community forum showcan be arranged.4)Send a thank you note for interviews/articles. Give a coffee mug for the firsttime they assist you in your efforts.
5)
Ask if the stations with webs will put a link on their community page for yourservices.6)Distribute “success” stories on a regular basis!
 
Newsletter Plan:
1)Create a rough plan on when your newsletter will be distributed.
2)
Keep your database current.
3)
Keep extra copies to give to new people who sign up after publication dates.4)To expand the articles, go to appropriate web sites, get permission to usetheir articles.
5)
 This continual contact is a part of building a relationship.6)Compile an email listing and send via email if appropriate.7)If the newsletters come back with bad addresses, make sure to contact themor put ???? on the address line if contact is not made.8)Cross promote other programs.9)Put info on youth web site also, or use my site and others to make a web siteor newsletters.10)Some people are bombarded by “information” through the mail, email,websites, etc. Make your newsletter stand out! Don’t waste their time withmeaningless items.11)Find a sponsor for your non-profit newsletter.
School Plan: (for youth programs)
1)Make contact with all appropriate teachers/counselors. The head counselor,the classroom to career teachers, etc. Make email group listing. Include yourat-risk and private, Christian schools also. See if there is a homeschool groupin your area also.
2)
 Your biggest youth contacts will be through the schools, so don’t blow it.Offer to teach a class on job readiness, career planning, etc. I had a 95% signup ratio when I spoke to classes. Most teachers are wanting “filler” classesdue to the end of school year timing.

If they have a school newspaper, find out the deadlines, costs of ads, etc.Run ads,

Make “youth appealing” posters to have posted throughout the school.
5)
Set up during lunch time at the school. But the next item will be useful sincemost students leave the campus.6)Design a contest for teachers to compete in getting registrations turned inthrough their class. Find a local restaurant that will offer a dinner-for-two giftcertificate.7)Make sure you reinforce that you are providing the same service andresource assistance that the schools provide. Give resource material to allappropriate teachers.8)Make info sheets to be distributed to each teacher via the front office.9)Give some promotional items to the main people when you visit.
