Camerapersons journal

I was the cameraman when we filmed our production; my reason for picking to be the cameraman is because Ive had pervious experience in filming this made it easier when filming for our production. I also chose to be the cameraman as I felt that I had a better insight of what shots we wanted in the film. During the filming I had to make sure the lightening was well and also had to make sure there was no shadows visible in the filming; when filming I also had to make sure the director was happy with the shots made. During the filming I had to make sure the lighting was well if the lighting wasnt well I had to move to another place or get better lighting by using a flashlight.
*this was the camera that I used.

What went well?

During the filming one the things that went well is that the filming went smoothly, there was nothing that either stopped us from working or anything that messed the filming up. Whilst filming the battery lasted the whole time we film that meant that we could film a lot in a day and not go back to the classroom to get another battery; if this would have happened it would mean that the filming would have taken a longer. Whilst having the tripod while filming meant that it made it easier to take smoother shots; when filming it meant that we could make sure that the camera was in place for filming and then make sure that the shots filmed were good and clear.

What didnt go so well?

One of the main things that didnt go so well is that we had to keep filming some of the scenes over and over again, reasons because someone would either be walking near where we were filming which meant that we had sounds coming from them or someone would be talking which meant it would interfere with our filming. Another thing that didnt go so well during filming is the focus, for every scene I had to make sure that the focus was clear and that there werent

no shadows from me and the director visible in door reflections; during the first few shots of the filming it took a bit of time to make sure the focus and the shots in the production were perfect. After the first few shots I then got used to handling the camera and the production went smoothly. Another thing that didnt go so well is that one of the main actress in our film changed the style of their hair which meant that we had to film everything again which took a long time as we were nearly finished and had to redo it all so we were meant to finish in 3 days but it actually took between 5-6 days.

If I had to do the filming again, what would I change?

If I had a chance of filming the production again I would do a few changes and improvements, these improvements would mean that that we wouldnt waste much time. The first improvement I would do is to make sure that when filming the corridors are clear which will mean that no sound will be produced from other people and make sure no-one will walk through our shots. Another improvement I would do is to make sure the focus is perfect before each shot; this would mean that I wouldnt have to reshoot each shot and will also save time. Also I might change the location as in the corridors that we filmed in there were a few problems with the lighting.
