2009 Michigan Senate Bill seeking to abolish juvenile life without parole (JLWOP) sentences in Michigan. This legislation would affect 300+ juveniles — including Efrén Paredes, Jr. — who are serving JLWOP sentences in Michigan for crimes they were convicted of committing as juveniles, and give them the opportunity for parole. It will not release a single prisoner simply because it is passed. Please contact your legislators and encourage them to support this very important legislation that calls for an end to JLWOP sentences which are a human rights violation in contravention with several international treaties, including the Convention On the Rights of the Child (CRC).
