In India and global level the consumption of proteinaceous foodis increasing in human diet.
As a result the demand and supply of various feed ingredients hasto be maintained to check the price on either side.
Fish is the cheapest source of protein and this protein isproduced by fish/prawn from natural and artificial feedingredients viz. animal and plant sources.
The nutritional requirement of fish and prawn in aquaculture isthe basic need of the animal, which is supplied by nutritionist andfeed mill and feed manufacturers of the aquaculturist.
Feed ingredients can be classified into
conventional
and
non-conventional
types based on their availability and acceptability.
Introduction
 
 
Includes agro-industrial by-products and areroutinely, commonly and widely used inaquaculture.
Most of these are cheaply and easily availablethroughout the year.
Their usage is standardized and is widely accepted.
They can be either of animal-origin or plant-origin.
