Doar Me. Hindman:
Enclosed is some information regarding the background of the hull
dosign of the CAWDIEN or the Old Town version, the CNADINNE. Tt is a
traditional Peterborough style hull with a slight recurve to the bow and stern,
something that is not found on many craft built today. The Old Tow version,
17"3" in length and trimmed out in wood has a very traditional appearance,
again, something not found in many craft today with the exception of wood/canvas
‘the picture of the 17 with a woman in it will give you an idea of
the trim and the fine entry at the waterline.
‘The picture of the craft with the sail rig is an Old Tow KEVIAR version
to which T adapted a Gruman sail rig for the custorer. This hull design is
suitable for a great many uses, fast, dry and seaworthy, qualities that make
for versitility.
The last picture is that of a 20 foot CANADIEN T built for sailing in
ake Michigan's waters, hence the pontoons with which to create a trimaran
‘out of the canoe. Note the fine Lines and entry, the graceful sheer and the
‘overall look of tzadition that fow builders soem to achieve nowadays.
TE you have not soon it yet, there is a wob site called paddlers.net,
fon which several porsons have comented on their CAADIENNES. Check it out~
TE you have any further questions, call me at 773-777-1489.
